I want to share a bit about my journey from a kid with a Batman hat in a bomber jacket to finding photography, acting, and filmmaking here in LA. My favorite aspect of being a photographer is getting to hear my clients stories and to capture their whole history in a present moment.
At 5 years old, life was all about Batman, Top Gun, and exploring the outdoors. As a kid, I imagined my whole life was a movie. It has always been my context for wonder and creativity.
At 12, I received my first camera — a Canon AT-1 — and started photography lessons from my dad. At the same time I was beginning my journey as an actor. The school assignment was "what are you going to be when you grow up?" My answer was clear: movies were my everything and I loved being in plays with my friends. It was a that dreamy time before perfectionism was a thought and I felt so damn free.
At 19, I was deep in the North Carolina School of the Arts drama program — 16 hours a week steeped in theatre, going nuts in a glorious bubble of art. With thousands of photos to remember every moment of it by. And yes plagued by the thought that I had to be perfect. oof.
At 24, life was all about surviving the constant, thrilling chaos of Los Angeles and New York — auditioning my face off while navigating the 2008 financial crisis. And so began my professional journey with photography. Shooting friends and clients of my agents and managers wherever I could find a good nook around the city.
My early thirties were about getting serious. I had grown my TV and indie film résumé and was hungry for more fulfilling creative endeavors. I wrote, produced, directed, and starred in my first short film Iron & Dirt — then quickly made 7 more. I started a writing group called STORYLAB and dove into producing my first feature film The Twin. This was also when Fahey Foto truly started to flourish. I built out my current lightbox studio and have been dialing it in ever since.
And here we are. 2026 is all about expanding both my filmmaking and photography businesses. Major studio upgrades are coming this summer, new film projects are on the horizon, and this has already been an amazing year. I'm eager to see what more it has in store — and honored to share it all through the lens.
